These compact on-board starters were specially developed for petrol engines that are integrated in helicopters and cars. The power is transmitted from the starter engine to the crank shaft of the internal combustion engine via the gear reduction with integrated free-wheel. When the internal combustion engine is running the free-wheel separates the combustion engine from the on-board starter. The on-board starter is mostly pre-assembled and thus the assembly at the internal combustion engine is very easy.
